Joan B. Donaldson

Mrs. Donaldson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Joan is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Dale (Kathy) Donaldson of Ogdensburg and Dwayne (Nicole) Donaldson of Lisbon; her two daughters, Darlene Fournier of Ogdensburg and Donna (Tom) Luckie of Ogdensburg; her seven cherished grandchildren, Kelsi Donaldson & fiancée’ Dustin Harper, Spencer (Jacquelyn) Durkee, Vincent (Anna) Durkee, Owen (Meaghan) Luckie, Riley Luckie, Claire Donaldson & fiancée’ Kerrigan Rondeau, and Andrew Jesse Donaldson; two great-grandchildren Naomi Durkee & Logan Dodd; a brother Glen (Carol) LaRock of Lisbon. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her kindness and gentle spirit.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jesse M. Donaldson; five sisters, Ruth Bullock, Jean Storie, Shirley Hughes, Linda Donnelly and Elaine LaBarge; two brothers, Ivan LaRock and Harold LaRock.

Born in Lisbon NY on June 3, 1940, Joan was the daughter of the late Stanley and Doris (Stephenson) LaRock. She attended Lisbon School and graduated from Canton High School. On August 6, 1960, she married the love of her life, Jesse M. Donaldson, in Flackville, beginning a marriage built on love, devotion, and family.

Joan enjoyed a fulfilling career, first working at Farrand's Flowers before opening her home to care for children in the community, a role she embraced with warmth and patience until her retirement in 1993. Caring for others came naturally to Joan, and she touched the lives of many families through her compassion and nurturing heart.

She found great joy in life's simple pleasures. Joan loved listening to blue-grass music, preparing home-cooked meals, and gathering around the table with those she loved. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories through family traditions, laughter, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her gentle nature, generous heart, and the unwavering love she shared with everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. As Joan would say, “have a good day, if you don’t…. its your own fault”.
