Joseph Lloyd Cooke

Funeral services for Joseph “Lloyd” Cooke, age 69 of Ogdensburg will be held on Monday (April 11, 2011) at 11:00am the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Entombment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Mr. Cooke died Thursday (April 7, 2011) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Surviving are is children Lloyd Cooke, Teresa Cooke, Lisa Cooke & Debra Cooke & son-in-law Tony Jackson all of Accord, NY; brothers Arthur Cook & his wife Sandy of Manchester, NY, Anthony “Tony” Cooke & his wife Susan of Hamlin, NY, Donald Cooke & his wife Loretta of Ogdensburg and Gary Cook of Ogdensburg; seven grandchildren Robert, Tasha, Jeremy, Damien, Alexander, Lloyd & Tiffany Cooke all of Accord, NY along with several nieces, nephews, cousins & many friends.

Lloyd was born on April 9, 1941 in Ogdensburg, NY a son of the late Norman & Mary (Barnes) Cooke. He attended Ogdensburg schools for his education and married Helen (Schneider) on September 19, 1964 in Stone Ridge, NY.

During Lloyd’s career, he was employed on the St. Lawrence Seaway, Channel Master, VAW & Hydro Aluminum as a crane operator. He retired in 2005 after 42 years of continuous service. He enjoyed fishing, target shooting, watching horse racing in Saratoga and the Finger Lakes, playing cards and gardening. He was also a member of the Ellenville & Ogdensburg Knights of Columbus, Elks, AmVets & Moose Lodge.
