Surviving are her children John (Dixie) Beaulieu of Ogdensburg, Gary Beaulieu & his companion Linda Coberly of Aztec NM, Larry (Kim) Beaulieu of Harleysville PA & Kathy Beaulieu of Ogdensburg; sisters Lillian Cummings and Joyce (Dick) Rowan both of Canton; 15 grandchildren, 17-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Rodger Beaulieu in 2008, a brother Dale Bush, and three sisters Mary “Sissy” Hitchcock, Hazel Maderis & Theresa McDonald.
Joy was born on April 14, 1936 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late John “Jack” & Anna (Hurst) Bush. She attended rural schools for her education, and later married Rodger F. Beaulieu on Aug 17, 1957 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church.
The couple first made their home in DePeyster before moving to Popes Mills and finally to her current home on the Black Lake Road where she has resided for 38 years. During her career she worked at Loblaws Grocery Store as a cashier where she also painted the storefront windows with festive holiday décor. She later assisted her husband with the operations of their farm for a period, and then began her employment at Hepburn Hospital where she worked in the housekeeping department and as a nurse’s aide on the surgical floor. She also worked at Bev’s Baby Barn for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting, crafts, playing bingo with her friends and especially spending time with her family. It was often said that she could get a meal for 20 people and never see her do it, and when it came to a game of chance, she was unbeatable!
