Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Deacon Dave Demers will lead a closing prayer following the visitation.
Teeny was born on July 5, 1942, in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late William and Kathleen (Dishaw) Barr. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and was married to the love of her life, Edward Chateau, on November 11, 1960. Together they shared many devoted years until Edward’s passing.
Throughout her working life, Teeny was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She was employed at Standard Shade Roller, Diamond International, ComPAS, Dixie Lee, and later at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in the Environmental Services Department, where she worked until her retirement in 2005.
Teeny found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved trips to the casino, playing bingo, knitting, baking, traveling, and especially visiting Vermont. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, who were the center of her world. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle but spunky spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Scott Chateau and his companion Kimberly Walton of Canton; David (Lisa) Chateau of Ogdensburg; Michele (Michael) Wheeler of Ogdensburg; and Lisa (Tom) Woodward of Heuvelton. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Kamie (Will) Johnson, Mandie (Adam) Collins, Ryan Thomason, Katie (Mitchell) Wheeler, Miranda (Dan) Joslin, Maggie Chateau, and Jillian (Brad) Coelho; several great-grandchildren; her brothers Michael (Jan) Barr of Malone and David Barr of Ogdensburg; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Teeny was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Chateau, a grandson Clifford Chateau at birth.
