It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kirk R. Ramsey, age 70, of Ogdensburg, who left us peacefully early Sunday morning, November 9, 2025, at Rochester General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm Monday November 17, 2025 at Shipwrecked Bar & Grill in Ogdensburg, where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and fond memories of Kirk’s life and the joy he brought to so many.
Kirk is survived by his loving sisters Paula Davies and her companion Stan Breen of Ogdensburg, and Karyl (David) Clifton of Sarnia, Ontario; nieces and nephew Chera Davison of Ogdensburg, Janice and Alison Ramsey of North Carolina, and Ben Ramsey of Ogdensburg; and great-nieces and nephews Ivey, Cooper, Kinslee, Mazelyn, and Kelten Davison, and Ariana Ramsey. He also leaves behind his dear friends Quentin Spooner and his children Kirk and Ramsey Spooner, and Pat LaRock, who all held a special place in his heart.
He was predeceased by his parents Bert and Cecile (Delair) Ramsey, and his two brother Joseph & Robert Ramsey.
Born in Ogdensburg on March 30, 1955, Kirk was a proud graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued his education at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. A gifted athlete, Kirk’s talent in both baseball and hockey earned him attention from professional scouts in his younger years—a testament to his natural skill and determination.
Throughout his life, Kirk pursued a variety of careers that reflected his wide range of talents and his caring nature. He worked at Granview before college, later sharing his musical gifts as a performer with several local bands, bringing joy and entertainment to countless gatherings and community events. Kirk also worked at the ARC, a local convenience store, and later found his calling in service as a New York State Correctional Officer, a position he proudly held until his retirement in 2010.
Kirk’s zest for life shone through in everything he did. He was an avid athlete who loved tennis, racquetball, water-skiing, downhill skiing, boating, and of course, baseball and hockey. His creative side was equally strong—he had a passion for drawing and photography, and he never missed an opportunity to entertain others with his music, whether on stage, at a wedding, or simply among friends. Above all, Kirk treasured time spent with his family and friends, and the companionship of his beloved pet birds and faithful dog, Chester.
Those who knew Kirk will remember his kind heart, his humor, his musical spirit, and his deep love for those around him. His laughter and light will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the stories, songs, and smiles he leaves behind.
