

Funeral services for Loretta H. Hawthorne, age 96 a resident of the United Helpers Nursing Home and formerly of Brier Hill, NY will be held on Thursday (November 17, 2011) at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Morristown with Pastor David Piatt officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Morristown.
Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Hawthorne died Monday morning (Nov 14, 2011) at the nursing home surrounded by her family.
Surviving are her children Thomas Hawthorne & his wife Carol of Harrisville, Robert Hawthorne & his wife Joan of Watertown, Douglas Hawthorne & his wife Dorothy of Temecula, CA; Mary Ellen Mace & her husband Lawrence of Brier Hill, Elaine Langtry & her husband Raymond of Brier Hill, Kathy Hunter & her husband Pete of Brier Hill; a sister Shirley Nolan of Glens Falls; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1-great-great-grandchild and many nieces nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack; two sons John & William Hawthorne; three brothers Jacob, Arthur & Herbert Henderer and three grandchildren Janie & Joni Mace and Raymond Langtry.
Loretta was born on January 10, 1915 in Gansevoort, NY a daughter of the late Jake & Alma (Dorvey) Henderer. She graduated from Glens Falls High School and married Jack Hawthorne on July 20, 1938. During her career she was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Saratoga Springs Hospital until she moved to Morristown in 1949. She then worked in various restaurants for a period until becoming employed again as a nurse’s aide at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center and the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center until 1980 when she retired. She enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, making Christmas stockings and spending time with her family.
