

Funeral services for Lorraine I. Risley, age 83 of Ogdensburg will be held on Friday (December 30, 2016) at 6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael O’Donnell officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Ogdensburgh Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held also on Friday from 3:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Risley passed away at the Maplewood Healthcare Facility in Canton on Christmas Day surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her children Gary Risley & his wife Donna Hynes of Heuvelton, Randy Risley & his wife Linda of Scotia, NY and Mark Risley & his wife Valerie of Ogdensburg; a brother Douglas Spooner & his wife Barbara of Ogdensburg; four grandchildren Gerie Lynn Palmer & her husband Steven, Jason Risley, Brian Risley and Laura Hopkins & her husband Tom; great-grandchildren Hailey & Jaden Palmer and Brayden Hopkins, step grandson Curt Ethridge and his wife Jenn and their sons Cory and Cody, along with many nieces nephews & cousins.
Her husband Obed, a daughter Dawn Marie; four sisters Ruth Easter, Violet Bouchey, Nora Bouchey and Rita Strader along with two brothers William and Richard Spooner predeceased her.
Lorraine was born on June 5, 1933 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Henry & Jennie (Wilmot) Spooner. She attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for her education and later married Obed A. Risley on March 7, 1952. During her career she was employed at United Helpers Nursing Home as a Personal Care Aid for 18 years and later with Community Development Program in Canton for 5 additional years. She retired in 1994.
She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, crocheting and spending time with her family.
