Funeral services for Lucille Marsha Murphy, age 86 and formerly of 430 Proctor Avenue Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday (August 8, 2018) at 6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be at a later time at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be held also on Wednesday prior to the funeral from 12:00-2:00pm & 4:00-6:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Murphy passed away August 5, 2018 at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Marsha was born August 26, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Springer) Rosenberg. She graduated from Bard High School in Baltimore in 1949 and worked as a drafts-women at the Glen L. Martin Company. She married Henry Walter (Buster) Murphy on May 30, 1957 at St. Anthony’s Church in Baltimore and they relocated the family to Ogdensburg in 1963. Marsha and Buster owned and operated The Old Homestead on State Street, and later Buster’s Bar and Lounge on Patterson Street until 1983. She also worked as a cashier at the Off-Track Betting until her retirement.
Surviving are her children Lori Murphy, Oswego, NY and Martin (Penny) Murphy, New Port Richey, FL, a granddaughter Taylor Murphy, Oswego, NY, three step grandsons, Jason (Sarah) Allen, Matthew (Laura) Allen and Ryan (Miranda) Wignall, two great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Marsha was predeceased by her husband Buster Murphy on March 2, 1983; a brother-in-law Harold Murphy on February 28, 1986; a sister-in-law Alfreda Murphy on March 1, 1986; and a twin brother Ronald Rosenberg on August 26, 2014.
Marsha was an active member of the City Republican Party for many years and enjoyed almost daily trips to her favorite stores where she made and maintained many new and old friendships. She also enjoyed playing cards, trivia and bingo while a resident at United Helpers Riverledge.
