Mary E. McGaw

Funeral services for Mary E. McGaw, age 62 of Church Street in Lisbon will be held on Wednesday (June 24, 2015) at 3:00pm at the Lisbon Wesleyan Church with Pastor Floyd McCallum officiating. Burial will follow the service at Flackville Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held also on Wednesday from 10:00am until 2:15pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. McGaw passed away on Monday (June 22, 2015) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving are her children Wilbur David “Jr” McGaw of Gouverneur, William W. McGaw and Mary E. (Jon) Cota both of Lisbon; siblings William Barney of Watertown, Jo Anne (Richard) Lockwood of Ogdensburg, Michael (Marcy) Barney of Canton, Pamela (George) Coleman of Canton, Cindy Watson of Ogdensburg, David ( Susan) Barney of Hermon, Susan (Barry) Webb of Palmyra, Roberta Driscoll and Barbara Barney of Ogdensburg and Paula (Randy) Dillon of Plattsburg; grandchildren MacKenzie, Austen, Bracelyn, Walker “David” and Sophie along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents Stuart & Marie Barney; her husband Wilbur “Dave” McGaw in 2013; a sister Jane Elizabeth in 1950; brothers Robert James in 1962 and Jerry Wayne Barney in 2015.

Mary was born on November 15, 1952 in Oswego NY, a daughter of the late Stuart & Marie (Todd) Barney. She attended Canton High School for her education, and later married Wilbur “David” McGaw in 1970 at the Ogdensburg Wesleyan Church. She worked as a healthcare aid for many years prior to becoming disabled. Mary spent countless hours volunteering with the Lisbon Wesleyan Church on women’s retreats, Sunday school teaching and assisting with the food pantry. She also volunteered for the Lisbon Book Fair for many years and enjoyed crafts, quilting, sewing, spending time with her children and grandchildren and her involvement with the church.
