My favorite memory of Mary Lou:

I was an obnoxious 7th grader walking into Heuvelton’s high school cafeteria for the first time. I saw Mary Lou and headed to her table and sat down - completely oblivious that she was sitting at the ‘Senior’ table. A few of her classmates grumbled, but she graciously welcomed me. Eventually I figured out I was breaking a social rule, but if she saw me, she’d ask me to sit next to her.

Time has faded the names and faces, but Mary Lou - then and now - was a bright shining light in an otherwise normal cafeteria. My heart goes out to Bill, Dorothy and the family.
