Nettie E. Palmer

Graveside services for Nettie E. Palmer, age 80, of Rensselaer Falls, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery, with Ron Stiles officiating. Nettie passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Nettie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose greatest joy came from the time she shared with those she loved. Her kind heart, caring nature and love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Lisa) Donnelly of Rensselaer Falls and James (Angie) Donnelly of Randolph, NJ; three daughters, Carol (Harry) Garvey of Madrid, Cathy (David) Parker of Canton and Connie (Randy) McAllister of Rensselaer Falls; her brother, David (Anne) Donnelly of Heuvelton; two sisters, Nancy Shattuck of Ogdensburg and Cassie Donnelly and her partner, Dodie Mayne, of Hammond; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Raymond Howes of Heuvelton; sister-in-law Connie Palmer of Rensselaer Falls; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Simeon “Albert” Palmer; a son David Palmer; brothers Robert (Judy), Hank (Linda), Howard and Donald Donnelly; and sisters Mary (Ivan) LaRock, Marjorie Howes, Ula Donnelly and Wanda (Ronald) McGaw.

Nettie was born on July 22, 1946 in Massena, the daughter of the late Percy and Eileen (Ogle) Donnelly. She attended schools in Morristown and Canton before beginning her career. On August 28, 1971, she married the love of her life, Simeon “Albert” Palmer, and together they built a life centered around family and love.

Nettie worked for many years as a computer board technician at ComPAS. She was also a dedicated and former member of the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department Auxiliary, where she enjoyed giving her time and helping her community.

Outside of work and her community involvement, Nettie found happiness in the simple moments of life. She treasured spending time with her family and especially enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and girl scout camping trips. She created countless memories along the way, and her warmth, generosity and genuine love for others touched her families lives.

Nettie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched and in the traditions, stories and special moments she leaves behind. Her family will forever treasure the love she gave so freely and the memories they made together.
