Patrick D. Gillman Sr.

A graveside service for Patrick D. Gillman Sr., age 92 of the Monkey Hill Road, Ogdensburg will be held on Wednesday (Nov 14, 2018) at 3:00pm at the Pine Hill Cemetery on the Eel Weir Road with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Mr. Gillman passed away at his home on Tuesday (Nov 13, 2018).

Surviving is his wife Elizabeth “Betty” Gillman; four sons Patrick Gillman Jr. of Ogdensburg, Kit (Trisha) Gillman of IL, Dale Gillman of KS and David Gillman of CA; two daughters Kimberly Gillman of Ogdensburg and Tamra (Ray) Cruz of Norfolk; eight grandchildren Sara, Reece, Adam, Randi, Landis, Crystal, Christopher & Chuck; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Three brothers and two sisters predeceased him.

Patrick was born on March 17, 1926 in Ecorse MI, a son of the late Landis & Martha (Smith) Gillman. He attended Ecorse School for his education, and later married Elizabeth Brenno on Sept 3, 1957.

During his career he was employed by Dunbar & Sullivan for 30 years as a tug boat captain and welder contributing to the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway. He then owned and operated a family farm from 1981 – 1988 when he retired.

He enjoyed welding, scuba diving, woodcarving, watching hockey, tinkering with farm equipment and making fly fishing lures. He was a hardworking husband and father that loved his family. Condolences and fond memories can also be shared online at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com.
