Graveside services for Paul C. Burns, age 93 of the 5 Mile Line Road will be held on Thursday (Nov 1, 2012) at 11:00am at the White Church Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Burns died Friday (Oct 26, 2012) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Surviving is his daughter Ann Marie Burns of Ogdensburg; nieces & nephews Kevin Burns of Adams, David & Dan Burns of Carthage, Sue (Burns) Stewart of Gainesville, VA, Sally (Burns) York of Richmond, VA, Joyce (Tyo) Reno of Massena and Jimmy Tyo of Florida.
Predeceasing him was his wife June; sisters Theresa Tyo , Katherine Ackerman and brothers John & Edward Burns.
Paul was born on March 16, 1919 in Ogdensburg, NY a son of Thomas & Grace (Hagle) Burns. He attended Ogdensburg Schools for his education and married June E. Kerr in 1957 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. During his career he operated the Grain Elevators in Ogdensburg for three years, painted cars for a period, worked as a longshoreman mechanic for 5 years, sailed the Great Lakes for 12 years and worked as a mechanic for the Ogdensburg Highway Department until he retired in 1981.
He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp at age 16 and the Longshoreman’s Unit 27A. He enjoyed hunting and watching boxing on TV. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of ones choice.
