A Memorial Service for Paula L. Conklin, age 82, of Ogdensburg and formerly of Hammond, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Chapel of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home with Deacon Tony Pastizzo officiating. Entombment will follow at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum.
Paula passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home on June 5, 2024.
Born on April 14, 1943, in Port Jervis, NY, Paula was the daughter of the late Irving and Lois (Quackenbush) Conklin. She graduated from Monroe-Woodbury School and began her career working for the U.S. Government in Suffern, NY, as a laborer for an airplane manufacturer from 1958 to 1961.
Paula will be remembered for her warm sense of humor and zest for life. She loved collecting turtles, visiting casinos, playing bingo, and crafting of all kinds. A devoted New York Yankees fan, Paula was also actively involved in her community, serving as a past member of the Grange, the Brier Hill Women’s Auxiliary, and as an honorary member of the local fire department.
She is survived by her dear friend Jennifer Gardner of Redwood; Reggie McLear of Hammond; and her beloved cousin Dora Plont of Connecticut; along with many other special friends who were like family to her.
Paula’s light and laughter will be missed, but the joy she brought to others will be remembered always.
In honor of Paula’s generous spirit, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, 950 Linden Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669. Condolences and fond memories may be shared online at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com.
