

Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 26, 2026 beginning with calling hours at 11:00am followed by the funeral service at 12:00pm with Rev. Joseph Weidler officiating at the Fox & Murray Funeral. Entombment will follow at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum in Ogdensburg.
Phil is survived by his cousins, David (Cynthia) Gibby of Cheltenham, PA, Barbara Harris of New Jersey, and John Spencer of Geneseo, NY; along with his special friends, Dale LaHue of Ogdensburg and Bob Wallace of North Carolina.
He was predeceased by his father, Lionel Gore, and his mother, Dorothy (Spencer) Gore.
Born on June 10, 1937, in Ogdensburg, Phil was the son of the late Lionel and Dorothy (Spencer) Gore. A lifelong resident of the community he loved, Phil graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and went on to further his education at Weston New Mexico University, where he earned his master’s degree — an accomplishment that reflected his lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.
Phil’s work life was marked by dedication, versatility, and a strong work ethic. Over the years, he held a variety of positions that showcased both his practical skills and his heart for service. He worked as a warehouse manager at Tile & Rugs in Syracuse, was employed at ED Briggs Grocery alongside his father, and later worked at P & C in Syracuse. Phil also shared his knowledge and faith as a Sociology instructor at Pine Crest Bible Training College in Salisbury Center, NY, where he additionally worked in the print shop and served as VP assistant supervisor. His creative talents led him into photography, where he helped produce yearbooks and worked in mail-order tape ministry. Before retiring in 1999, Phil served as a driver for ARC, a role that allowed him to connect with and assist others in his community.
A devoted member of Park Street Assembly of God Church, Phil’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He found great joy in reading his Bible, attending church services, and nurturing his spiritual walk. Prior to losing his eyesight, he was an avid reader and enjoyed staying active by working out at the local gym. His resilience and steadfast spirit remained evident throughout his life, even in the face of physical challenges.
Phil will be remembered for his quiet strength, his thoughtful nature, and his enduring faith. He valued education, hard work, and community, and he leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and devotion. Those who knew him will remember his gentle presence and the sincerity with which he lived his life.
