Phyllis E. Garman

She is survived by her two sons, Sean Garman of Ogdensburg and Luke Garman of Corning, NY; her brother, Joe Ritchie of Ogdensburg; and her sisters, Margaret Garman of Ogdensburg and Susan Ritchie of Florida. And her nephew, Matt Garman. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Ritchie, and her mother, Ellen "Phyllis" (Rumble) Ritchie.

Born and raised in Ogdensburg, Phyllis was a bright, gifted, and compassionate woman whose curiosity and love of learning shaped both her personal and professional life. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy before continuing her education at Mater Dei College and the State University of New York at Potsdam, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology. A previous marriage to Timothy Garman ended in divorce.

Phyllis devoted her career to serving others. She worked as a social worker for St. Lawrence County and ARC before becoming a mental health worker at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. Her intelligence, empathy, and quiet strength made her well-suited to helping those facing life's challenges, and she touched the lives of many through her years of dedicated service.

Outside of her career, Phyllis found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved crocheting, photography, and relaxing with her favorite television programs. Above all else, she treasured the time she spent with her sons, who were the center of her life and her greatest source of pride.
