A Mass of Christian Burial for Ramon “Ray, Papa, Pito” Gonzales, age 73, of Flackville Road IRA will be held on Tuesday (June 18, 2019) beginning with calling hours at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home from 11:00am to 12:30pm. The funeral mass will follow at 1:00pm at the St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton. A reception celebrating Ramon’s life will be held at his home, 5147 County Route 10, Heuvelton immediately following services.

Mr. Gonzales passed away peacefully at the IRA on June 10, 2019 surrounded by his loving friends and caregivers from United Helpers.

Ramon was born July 6, 1945 in Manhattan, the son of Ramon Gonzales and Conchita Cartagena Gonzales. He is greatly loved and will be missed by his sisters Elsie (Jose) Sosa and Margaret Irizarry, and several nieces and nephews – Joseph, Sonia, Judith, and Michael Sosa of the Bronx, and Sandra Sosa of Florida; Teresa Irizarry of Florida, Jo-Ann Irizarry of Brooklyn, and Jose Irizarry and Ramon Mendoza of the Bronx, as well as several lifelong friends and caregivers at United Helpers. Ramon is predeceased by both his parents.

Throughout his life, Ray resided throughout New York State in Staten Island, Manhattan, and finally settled at United Helpers Flackville Road IRA in Heuvelton, NY in March of 1988. In life, Ray enjoyed music, fine dining, animals, spending time outdoors, and being a practical jokester. He was especially fond of visits with his sisters, Elsie and Margaret. His sense of humor and outspokenness will be sincerely missed around his home.
