

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2024, at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home prior to the service.
Dick was born on July 16, 1935, in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Robert and Mary Ellen (Kiah) Dings. He attended George Hall Trade School and served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956.
On August 16, 1957, he married Patricia Enslow at Notre Dame Church with Msgr. Charboneau officiating. Dick worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway construction project and later became a heavy equipment operator with Teamsters Union Local 687 from 1957 until his retirement.
He was a member of several local organizations including the Moose Lodge, AmVets, American Legion, and formerly the Elks Lodge. Dick enjoyed spending time in his workshop, hunting, fishing, socializing, and most of all, being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; daughters Kathy (Mark) Sovie of Ogdensburg and Brenda (Bradley) Winters of Lisbon; grandchildren Shane (Kylie) Sovie, Ryan (Stefanie) Sovie, Jessica (Art) Hargrave Joel (Aundrea) Hargrave; great-grandchildren Maddison & Tyler Sovie, Braden Pelkey, Evan Sovie, Nash & Kane Hargrave; and great-great-grandchildren Colson & Emerson Sawyer; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his siblings Robert Dings, Randy Livingston, Patrick Dings, Coralee Joanette, Bonnie Dailey, and Lucina Kirby.
