Rollande R. Martin

Funeral services for Rollande R. Martin, age 82, of Hammond, will be held on Wednesday (March 18, 2015) at 2:00pm at St. Peters Catholic Church in Hammond with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 1:30-3:30 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm and again Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin passed away Saturday (March 14, 2015) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Rollande & Leopold raised nine children, Ginette of N. Plainfield NJ, Bernard (MaryEllen), Nicole (Max) Milsap of Hammond, Jeanne (Sandra) Tyo-Martin of Canton, Pierre of Hammond, Theresa (Humberto) Francesa of Potsdam, Dennis, Donald (Suzanne), Michael (Tisa) all of Hammond; 12 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren; two sisters Dolores Rouleau of Calgary Alberta and Simone (George) Ayotte of Hammond; a brother Raymond (Madeline) Campeau of

Cornwall Ontario along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Rollande was born on March 16, 1932 in St. Albert Ontario Canada to Ulric & Alice (Charrette) Campeau. She later married Leopold Martin on April 14, 1952 at the Nativity Church in Cornwall Ontario. He predeceased her on September 11, 2006.

The couple immigrated their family to Hammond in 1961 where they started a family farm with her sister Simone and her husband George. The families continued to grow, and "The Boys" continue to operate the farm today. Rollande loved her church, cooking, quilting, knitting and family gatherings. She could sew or patch almost anything, and was famous for her "red soup", quilts, Sunday family dinners, cookies, pies and pastry bars. She was a member of St. Peters Parish in Hammond and a member of the Alter and Rosary Society.
