Born on February 20, 1948, in Morristown, NY, Rose was the daughter of the late John and Verda (Newcomb) Crosby. A proud graduate of Morristown High School, Class of 1965, she continued her education at Ogdensburg Business School, paving the way for a long and dedicated career as a paralegal. She began her work at Brown & Silver in Morristown (1978–1980), spent over two decades with Attorney Kathy Wears (1980–2006), and most recently served at Silver & Collins from 2006 until her passing.
On February 3, 1968, Rose married James Schroh, who predeceased her in 2016. Together they had three children. Christopher, Andrew and Amy.
Rose is survived by her loving children: daughter Amy (Claire) Richardson of Canton; sons Christopher (Melony) Schroh of Oceanside, CA, and Andrew (Danielle) Schroh of Lakeland, FL; and a stepson, Timothy Schroh of Oklahoma. She is also survived by her dear brother, Cecil (Shirley) Crosby of Brier Hill; sister, Katherine Barse of Morristown; and eight cherished grandchildren and one great granddaughter, who brought her endless joy and pride.
She was predeceased by six brothers—Lynn, Patrick, Joseph, John, Robert, and Barney Crosby—and four sisters—Beulah, Verna Lennox, Alma Hemming, and Sylvia Crosby.
Rose's life was marked by quiet strength, generosity, and a deep commitment to her work, family, and community. In her free time, she enjoyed spending hours on her computer, working and playing games alike. She had a kind spirit and a sharp wit, and her family will remember her not only for her hard work and dedication, but for her love of family traditions—like Saturday morning coffee visits with her siblings and their spouses, a cherished routine that kept the family closely connected.
She had a few favorite indulgences—never passing up a Kahlua and Milk when out to dinner with her children—and if questioned she would quickly deny was a “closeted” fan of the TV series Shameless, which brought her many secret smiles.
Rose’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the community she served so faithfully. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rose’s honor may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg or the Morristown Fire Department.
