Sally Hargrave

Calling hours will be held on Sunday (August 27, 2017) from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Hargrave passed away on Wednesday (Aug 23, 2017) at the River Hospital in Alexandria Bay with her family by her side.

Surviving are her children Anna Lenga of Ogdensburg, Kenneth (Sherrie) Hargrave of Ogdensburg, Carol (Robert) Whitcombe of Ogdensburg, Thomas Hargrave & his companion June Queor of Waddington and Kelley (Al) Costello of Ogdensburg; a brother Ernest (Joan) Olin of Pyrites; grandchildren Nicole Seeley, Ryan Warren, Crystal Washington, Michael Fonda, Jessica & Joel Hargrave, Robert Whitcombe Jr., Erik Whitcombe, Sara, Jacob & Cassidy Hargrave, Mackenzie Amo, and Drew, Madalyn & Hannah Costello, along with several great-grandchildren.

Her husband Allan predeceased her in 2016 and son Richard Hargrave in 2013.

Sally was born on July 7, 1934 in Canton NY, a daughter of the late Ernest & Ada (Alberta) Olin. She graduated from Canton Central High School in 1952, and later married Allan Hargrave on March 27, 1962 at the Canton Presbyterian Church.

During her career she was employed at the Motor Vehicle and Environmental Conservation Departments, waitressed at various locations, and worked as an administrative assistant for United Helpers and St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center. Sally also assisted her husband with the family farm in Lisbon for many years and was a home care provider for persons diagnosed with mental illness for 25 years out of her home.

She enjoyed shopping, gardening, playing cards, attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling and spending time with her family.
