

Sherman Robert Hazelton, age 67, of Ogdensburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday (September 28, 2025) at the North Country Nursing & Rehab Center in Massena. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
Surviving are his two sons, Justin Hazelton of Ogdensburg and Nathan Hazelton of Colorado; his sister, Darlene (Patrick) Lynch of Ogdensburg; a niece Hillary Skelly; a nephew Drew Lynch and several cousins.
Sherman was born on November 5, 1957, in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Roy and Beverly (Simmons) Hazelton. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1975. He was later married to Nancy Fishbeck, a union that eventually ended.
Throughout his working years, Sherman was employed at Chicago Markets, Price Chopper, P & C, Great American, United Helpers, ComPAS, Mitel, and Acco.
A passionate New York Yankees fan, Sherman could recite statistics from players’ rookie years through the heights of their careers. He enjoyed watching baseball, collecting and trading baseball cards, and as a boy, playing street hockey. Over the years, he shared his love of sports by coaching and umpiring men’s and girls’ softball, and he especially cherished serving as an assistant coach for T-ball when his children were young.
