Funeral services for Shirley Ann Holland, age 62 of the Stowe Road, Ogdensburg will be held on Monday (April 2, 2018) at 2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Fichette officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Hailesboro Cemetery in Gouverneur.
Calling hours will be held also on Monday from 11:00am until the time of the service. Ms. Holland passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday (March 28th).
Surviving is her longtime companion Marc Barney of Ogdensburg; a son Herbert Collins of Salt Lake City, UT; two daughters JoAnne Collins of Biloxi, MS and Jodi (Douglas) Haggerty of Lowville; siblings Junior Holland of Ogdensburg, Tony Holland of Florida and Gary Holland of Ogdensburg; two sisters Tina Warren of Norfolk and Marlene Fluno of Greenville, SC; grandchildren Kyle Fisher, Keith Collins, Christy Mims, Makala Mims, Tayler Haggerty, Gregory Haggerty and Cody Haggerty; two special dogs Sandy & Ellie, along with several nieces nephews & cousins.
An infant sister Juanita Holland and three brothers Frank, Larry & William Holland predeceased her.
Shirley was born on March 29, 1955 in Gouverneur, a daughter of the late William & Marian Holland Sr., and graduated from Gouverneur High School. A previous marriage ended, but again found love with her longtime companion Marc Barney.
During her career she worked as a home healthcare aid for 20 years prior to moving to Arkansas where she operated a small diner with her son. In 2001 she met Marc Barney and have spent the last 18 years as owner/operators of the S & M Trucking Company.
Shirley enjoyed traveling, collecting knick knacks, solar ornaments and shopping at the Salvation Army & Dollar Stores. She loved her children and grandchildren, and was devoted and hard working.
