The Ayotte family would like to sadly acknowledge the passing of Simone Ayotte 91. Simone leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years George Ayotte and their 4 children Diane Ayotte (Hammond), Louise & Randy Wright of Morristown, Susan & Dave Stout of Brier Hill, John & Darlyn Ayotte of Toronto, 8 grandchildren; Jessica Ayotte of Ballston Spa, Randy (Jennifer) Wright of Issaquah, Victoria (Michael) Barrett of Endicott, Aaron, Abigail & Anna Marie Stout all of Brier Hill and Jared & Jensen Ayotte of Toronto; along with 1 great granddaughter Madison Grace Barrett.
Simone Campeau was born in Casselman and raised in Cornwall, Ontario to the parents of Alice and Ulric Campeau on August 9, 1933. Like most children raised during the depression, Simone had to quit school after the 6th grade to help support the family. Simone went to work at the Montreal Coat Company as a seamstress and slowly worked her way to being a master seamstress helping the Montreal Coat Company create some of the best suits in Canada.
Following the completion of the Seaway Project and jobs in the area fading, Simone and George Ayotte joined her sister Rolande and brother-in-law Paul Martin into an adventure of a lifetime. The four young Canadians moved to upstate New York to start a dairy farm in Hammond, NY on Oak Point Road. The early years were rough to say the least, but the hard work paid off and the Martin & Ayotte Farm grew and thrived.
As Simone’s children grew older and less dependent, Simone supported multiple community initiatives like her local churches and the food pantry. Simone also greatly enjoyed quilting, embroidery and could be seen walking Oak Point Road each afternoon no matter the weather.
The Ayotte family greatly appreciates the outpouring of support and well wishes from those that Simone Ayotte has touched and come to know. A Funeral Service will be held in Simone’s honor on Saturday (June 28, 2025) at 12:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Carrara officiating. Visitation hours will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Hammond Food Pantry, c/o Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 193, Hammond, NY 13646. Condolences and fond memories can also be shared at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com.
