Thomas R. Love

On January 6, 2025, Thomas Royal Love Sr. passed away in Ogdensburg NY. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Macomb Wesleyan Church, 2063 County Rt 10, Macomb, NY. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Tom was born August 28, 1941 in Gouverneur, NY to Marjorie Grace (Rice) and Donald William Love Sr. He was a sibling to Gloria Strong, Lewis Love, Donna Garwood, Marjorie Countryman, and Rita LaDue, and his brother, Donald Love Jr. whom predeceased him. He graduated from Gouverneur High School and then enlisted in the United States Army as a Paratrooper and wrote for the Army newspaper. Tom was a proud member of the AMVETS in Heuvelton, the Elk’s in Gouverneur, and the JC’s in Syracuse.

Tom married the love of his life, Linda Lee (Dority) Love on September 18, 1965. They shared four children Paula S. Reddick of Philadelphia, NY, Thomas R. Love II of Fowler, NY, Dana L. Love of DePeyster and John T. Love who predeceased him. They were blessed with eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Tom could often be heard whistling and singing to pass the time. He also enjoyed dancing, collecting coins, bird watching, going to church and spending time with his family.

It is difficult to sum up a person’s life in a few short paragraphs however; the best word to describe Tom was joyful. He spread joy with his laughter and brightened spirits of all those whom he came in contact with. He spent numerous hours at his country store in Braise Corners before he retired where he left an impression on all those he came into contact with.

Tom will be remembered as a happy and loving man who spent his life providing for his family and serving others. He will be greatly missed but we rejoice knowing that he’s no longer in pain but has found peace in Heaven.
