He received Christ at an early age, and was baptized in Boley, Oklahoma. He graduated from Boley High School, Class of 1960. He started his career at Pepsi Cola in Oklahoma City. Over the course of his professional career, he was a skilled craft cement mason. Alphonso was proud to be a Charter member of New Vessels Christian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Alphonso and Parthenia “Tina” Burdine were united in marriage on November 23, 1963, and remained married for more than 60 years. As a result of this union, three children were born, two boys and a girl.
Among his favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, ranching in Boley, trail rides, yard work, playing dominos and listening to music.
Alphonso fought a valiant battle with cancer for over 23 years. His determination and handling every challenge with dignity and grace was a testament to his strong faith. He made his transition from this earth November 24, 2023.
Alphonso was preceded in death by parents James Earnest, Sr. and Rubie Burdine, brothers Owen Larry Burdine and Qunnen “Butch” Burdine, sister in-law Vernie B. Brooks, son Bryant James Burdine, and grandson Jean-Ciar Pierce.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years Parthenia of the home, son Melvin (Detra) Burdine of Broken Arrow, daughter Renee (Dwight) Bibbs of Los Angeles, CA, daughter-in-law Sarah Burdine of Oklahoma City, grandchildren E’Lescia, Cameron, Lauren, Devin, Meagan, and Morgan Burdine, and Bianca, Sajun, and Blake Bibbs, great-grandchildren Ciara Pierce, Casen and Carter Burdine, brothers Everett (Joylyn), Clark (Carla), and James (Barbara), sisters-in-law Doris Burdine and Deneisa Jackson, brother-in-law Kenneth Brooks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for Alphonso will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
A funeral service will occur Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Wildewood Christian Church, 6900 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73111.
