After moving to Illinois, she graduated from Rock Island High School and married her high-school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Scott. In 1956 they moved to Oklahoma City so that Bob could pursue a career in geology. When he started his own business as an independent oil producer in 1960, she would work alongside him as his secretary and office manager for the next 40 years. Arlene also became a quarter-horse owner/breeder and owned championship cutting horses during the 70’s. She was an avid reader and she and Bob enjoyed collecting Native American and Western Artwork. Later in life, she participated in the Ignatian Exercises at St. John the Baptist Church in Edmond and converted to Catholicism.
She is survived by her devoted children, Jeff Scott and Sherrill Scott of Edmond and Laura Vandivort of Sikeston, MO; her grandchildren Laurence Scott of Edmond and Ashley Scott and Brooke Rice of Oklahoma City, Jacob Thompson of Boynton Beach, Florida and Robert Thompson of Tillamook, Oregon; and great-grandchildren Michael Scott, Maylee Willow Thompson and Kasen Sandell. She is also survived by her sister Lucille Reed of Prescott, Arizona.
