Betty Jean Geisler Stanford Lawton, 80, of Oklahoma City, went to be with our Lord on Friday October 30, 2015 in her home in Oklahoma City. Betty Jean Geisler, daughter of Fred & Elda (Lafrentz) Geisler was born at home, March 17, 1935 in LeRoy township, Rutland, South Dakota. Betty was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Wentworth, SD.
Betty attended Wentworth Grade School, Wentworth, SD & graduated from Madison Central High School, Madison, SD. On June 14th 1953, Betty married Duane Stanford at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Wentworth, SD. They resided in Rapid City, SD. Duane Stanford passed away February 11, 1982. On August 10, 1985, Betty married Verlyn Lawton. They resided in Oklahoma City, OK. And joined Fairview Baptist Church. Verlyn passed away July 23,2012.
Betty worked in the dental field both in Rapid City, SD and Oklahoma City, OK. In addition to her husbands, Duane Stanford & Verlyn Lawton, and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Anne Stanford, her sister Norma Mae Riemenschneider and step-granddaughter Rebecca Dawn Caldwell. Betty’s survivors include daughters Jeanie Rae Caldwell & husband Robert Caldwell of Oklahoma City, OK, Cynthia Lynne Orr & husband Roger Orr of Aberdeen, SD, Tammy Jo Stanford of Oklahoma City, OK, sisters: Arlene Stanford & Lorna Rae Boetel & husband Don Boetel both of Sioux Falls, SD. Grandsons: Jason Caldwell of Edmond, OK, Justin Caldwell of Oklahoma City, OK Joshua Orr of Rapid City, SD and Michael Orr of Aberdeen, SD. Great grandsons: Marek, Theron and Finnick Caldwell of Edmond, OK and Liam Orr of Aberdeen, SD. Betty is also survived by a host of nieces & nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband V.Z. Lawton and step-son, Dale Lawton.
She is survived by two brother-in-laws, Kennison Lawton of Jasper, AL, and Wayne Lawton of Elizabethtown, PA. She is also survived by three step-sons, Chris Lawton of Freihung, Germany; Jeff Wilson of Edmond; and Lloyd Lawton of Oklahoma City. She is survived by step-grandchildren, Ashley Butler of Edmond; Woody Wilson of Winslow, AZ; Madison Wear of Elk City, OK; Jessie Wilson of Tuttle, OK; and Alexander Lawton of Freihung, Germany. She is also survived by one step-great grandson, Titus Butler of Edmond.
