Charles O. Dorrance
August 26, 1943 – June 10, 2020
Gentle and wise, respected and loved, C.O. Dorrance lived a life of quiet influence, leading by honorable action, sprinkled with sage counsel.
Not one to complain, his grit was evident as he took on undesirable or difficult tasks in service to others. His slow temper was a blessing, especially to his children.
Born in Oklahoma City to Margaret Lucile Elmore and Orange Yates Dorrance, C.O. grew up in the Edgemere Park neighborhood making fast friends that remained close for life. Transferring from Harding to Northeast High School his senior year, he met Cheryl Jean Maser, who would become his beloved wife of 54 years.
After graduating from The University of Oklahoma with a degree in finance, C.O.'s career path started at the State of Oklahoma working in economic development, then diverged to retail, and finally, entrepreneurship in oil, gas, and real estate investments. He served in the 45th Infantry Division of the Oklahoma National Guard and was an elder and small group leader at Our Lord's Community Church in Oklahoma City. C.O. found joy in his savior, Jesus Christ, his family and friends, the symphony, and the mountains in summer.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Maser Dorrance, of Plano, TX; and three children, Christina Renee Dorrance Day and her husband Chris Day, of Plano, TX; Elizabeth Ann Dorrance Armstrong and her husband David Armstrong, of Missouri City, TX; and Daniel Orange Dorrance, of Omaha, NE; as well as five grandsons, Ryan Maser Day, Nicholas Dorrance Day, Zachary Charles Armstrong, Aaron Yates Armstrong, and Evan Ronald Armstrong.
