Chuck was born in a small home outside of Allen, OK in 1941. He attended schools in Allen until his junior year of high school. He then moved to Pawhuska, OK and graduated from Pawhuska High School. After serving in both the Army National Guard and the Air Force, he earned an associate’s degree in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) from Oklahoma State Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, OK.
From his days growing up in Allen, Chuck kept in contact with a friend named Ron Moore. This became easier when Ron and his family moved to Jenks, OK, and were closer to Pawhuska. Chuck fell in love with Ron's younger sister, Phyllis June Moore, and was married to her on March 21st, 1964.
Chuck had a prolific career in HVAC, which included positions with Webster HVAC in Tulsa, Governair, Inc. in Oklahoma City, and RAE Corporation in Pryor, OK, among others, as well as running his own residential and commercial service company.
Chuck grew up loving the outdoors and embraced an outdoor lifestyle throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he cherished the time he spent with family and friends at Lake Tenkiller. He also enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and his daily morning walks. He was a passionate fan of Oklahoma State football and basketball, along with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
More than anything else, Chuck had an innate love for other people. He truly enjoyed meeting and visiting with people from all walks of life. He rarely went in public without seeing someone he knew, and he was genuinely interested in learning something from everyone he met. After moving back to Edmond in 2009, he enjoyed taking walks around his neighborhood every morning. Before long, he knew every neighbor and their dogs by name.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Russell, Jr, his mother, Letta Pauline Parham Robinson, his brother, Jack Russell, sister-in-law, Mary Russell, and daughter-in law, Jodi Russell.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Edmond, sons, Wayne (and Becky) of Edmond and Paul (and Janet) of Denton, TX., his grandchildren, Erica Jaqua, Lauren (Torin) Smith, Wyatt Russell, Jack Russell, Mason Russell, Tori Valentine, Cole Russell, Alli Valentine, and Dillon Russell, and by his great grandchildren, Charlie, Jackson, Cyler, Matthew, and Declan.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Memorial Road Church of Christ (2221 E. Memorial Road, Edmond, OK) at 11:00 am on Monday, June 30th, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please donate to: Boys Ranch Town of Edmond, or Hope Center of Edmond.
