Daphne Hollis Myers

Daphne was the third of five children; four daughters and a son. Her surviving siblings are DeAnn Corbin of Wichita, KS and O.L. Hollis of Lake Jackson, TX. She grew up in Alva, OK where she attended high school and Northwestern State College. She married Harry K. Myers Sr. on Jan. 20, 1938. They settled in Oklahoma City in the Britton area in 1943. She and her family attended Britton Christian Church until her death. Through the years she was active in Sunday school and women’s groups, making many dear and lifelong friends. Daphne was active in her husband’s construction business until her retirement. Thereafter, she volunteered at the University Hospital in Oklahoma City. She also established the Clothing Closet ministry at her church to benefit the local community.

Daphne is survived by her two children, Harry K. Myers Jr. of Waco, TX and Daphne Janeen Myers Birsner of Edmond, OK and her grandchildren, Elizabeth McCallister, Meg Ormiston, Anne Heck, Galt Ormiston, Harry K. Myers III, Katy Myers, Reagan Knap, Joe Birsner, and Cody Birsner. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

Daphne had a very sweet spirit and was always kind and loving to everyone. Her home was always a warm and welcoming place full of love. She was always ready to serve a meal often made with the fruit from her own trees.
