

Edward Hilliard “Hill” Cashion, 87, of Oklahoma City, passed away October 28, 2011 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born April 14, 1924 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Medford and Mary (Lamar) Cashion. Hill proudly served our country during WWII as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp. During the war he helped evacuate many Holocaust survivors from concentration camps in Nordhausen, Germany to London, England, saving their lives.
He later earned his Juris Doctorate after attending Wichita State and the University of Arkansas.
He married Shirley Ann Bennett in 1951 and they have enjoyed sixty beautiful years together.
Hill worked for Traveler’s Insurance Co in OKC but was well known as a Home builder and designer for most of his life. He loved gardening and nature; he created a backyard that looked like his native Arkansas Mountains. He was also a poet, artist and writer. He enjoyed going to horse races, gardening, fishing, bowling, board games, golf and attending family reunions at Lake Ouachita, AR. He has been a long time member of Westminster Presbyterian and taught Sunday school there for five years.
Hill will be remembered for being a man that loved his family, as a man of integrity and also for his dry sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Cashion of the home; daughter, Carla Cashion Wells & husband Keith of Whidbey Island, WA; son, Edward Hilliard Cashion, Jr. of Hurst, TX; grandchildren, Jeremy M. Grace & wife Ludy Grace of Katy, TX; and Cristina Marie Grace of Los Angeles; sister, Rebecca Hunzicker of Oklahoma City; brother, Medford Cashion Jr. of Kingwood, TX; brother, Lamar Cashion, and brother, Kendall "Sandy" & wife Kathryn - all of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and around the country as well as foreign nations.
Hill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Elizabeth Vahlberg; his beloved dog, Dimitry; and his cats, Sox and Vermillion.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with Hill's son-in-law, Keith Wells, officiating. Interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
