Ethel Mae Ransburgh Riggs

Ethel Mae Riggs was born May 22, 1927, in New Madrid, MO, to parents Albert & Martha Ransburgh and passed away on July 21, 2012 at St. Ann’s Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

Ethel married Richard Lowry at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Madrid, Mo in 1947 and together they raised six children. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1963 where she promptly enrolled the kids in St. Eugene’s Catholic School and became an active member of various volunteer organizations at St. Eugene’s and the Archdiocese of OKC and remained active until health concerns prevented her participation. Ethel was a stay at home mom until most of the kids were off on their own then she began her career with the Department Public Safety where she worked until retirement. Ethel married Emmett Riggs in 1979 and together they enjoyed motorcycle rides, camping trips and traveling around the country visiting friends and relatives.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Margery Morgan and Betty Purser. She is survived by her sister Ellender Kelley, Kawaii, Hawaii; husband, Emmett Riggs, Leesburg, FL; son, Robert Lowry, Neskowin, OR and his children Melissa, Nick and Kaity; son, David Lowry & wife Sonia, Waldron, AR and children Scott and Jamie; son, Philip Lowry & wife Brenda, OKC and their children Jill, Jacob, Brett and Brian; son, Tom Lowry & wife Dee, Duncan, OK and their children Brandon, Jason and Colton; daughter, Mary Wildman & husband Gary, Muskogee, OK and their children Heather, Clint and Ashley; son, Patrick Lowry & wife Ginger, Jenks, OK and children Zach, Rachel, and Leah; 29 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the love and support Ethel received from the members of St. Eugene and Epiphany Catholic Churches and for the loving care of St. Ann’s Nursing Home, Centennial Hospice and Dr. Kerry Cranmer.

A Wake service will be 7pm, Thursday, July 26, 2012, at St. Eugene Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am, Friday, July 27, 2012, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
