

Eugenia Mae Sicard Olsen-Marano of Edmond, Oklahoma went to heaven on May 29, 2011. She was 91 years old. Eugenia Mae Sicard was born in Richardville, Oklahoma on January 10, 1920. As her father worked as a roustabout, Eugenia grew up near the oil fields of Wewoka and Seminole, Oklahoma. She graduated from Wolf High School in 1936 at the age of 16 and was the Valedictorian of her class. She moved to Oklahoma City to attend business school and in 1938 went to work for Jasper Sipes School Furniture Company in downtown Oklahoma City. In 1940 she found employment with the U.S. Government and continued in this work until she retired in 1978 from the F.A.A. In October of 1941, Eugenia and some friends planned a vacation trip to Louisiana and visited New Roads, Louisiana to find some relatives that might be related to her father. While on this trip, Eugenia discovered that she had a half-brother and sister that she never knew existed, living in the area of Pointe Coupee, Louisiana. This discovery led to a lifelong love for genealogy resulting in the publication of “Sketches of a Sicard Family,” published in 1976.
Eugenia married Reinhart “Charlie” Olsen on December 11, 1941. Eugenia and Charlie lived in the Oklahoma City, Houston, and Midwest City area until his death in December 27, 1978. Eugenia remarried George A. Marano on June 29, 1989 and they lived in Midwest City, Oklahoma until his death on November 3, 1999.
Eugenia was preceded in death by her parents Frank Rosellus Sicard and Artie Boyd Sicard; sister Lonina Louise Sicard Moore; half-sister and brother Grace Marie Sicard and Archie Joseph Sicard; husband Reinhart Olsen. Also, husband George A. Marano.
She is survived by her children Charles Olsen and Debra Nowlin of Mustang and their children Nicholas and Jennifer Ponce, and their child who is due in December, of Oklahoma City; Lance and Linda Lightner of Edmond and their children Laramie and Triston Lightner; Ronnie and Lori Coleman of Moore and their children Nathan and Valerie Phifer, Jacqui and Sean Evans and Seth and Erin Coleman. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
Eugenia was a long-time member of the Disciples of Christ Church attending the First Christian Church and Kelley Avenue Christian Church in Oklahoma City. She was also a member of Midwest Boulevard Christian Church in Midwest City where she had many wonderful friends was very involved in the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Eugenia was a precious mother, grandmother and friend. Her love and devotion to her family was unmatchable. She was extremely intelligent and her humor was priceless. She had a smile and sweet words for everyone she met. Eugenia loved to travel, having travelled all over the world by car, plane, boat and even motor home.
Eugenia spent the last twelve years of her life living at Copperlake Estates in Edmond. She loved and cherished everyone there, residents and staff alike. She had a beautiful view of the lake where she spent hours by her window looking at her garden and watching the birds, ducks, geese and squirrels. Eugenia loved watch the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball and never missed a game.

A funeral service will be 10am, Friday, June 3, 2011, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the fund for the family of tornado victims Ryan and Cole Hamil set up at Midfirst Bank.
