In 1989, he married Karon McCauley, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship until her passing in November 2022.
Gary’s passions extended far beyond his profession. He had a deep love for sports, both as a spectator and participant. After playing on Bartlesville’s 1958 state co-champion division six football team, he enjoyed tennis, golf, hiking, bicycling, and skiing. Gary and Karon were often cheering their favorite Colorado and Oklahoma teams in football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. Gary was also deeply committed to The Wild Animal Sanctuary of Keenesburg, CO, where he directed his support to the rescue and care of wild animals in need.
