

Gordon Ira “GI” Clark, 85, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010, after an extended illness. Gordon was born March 12, 1925 in Oakesdale, Washington to Ira and Violet Clark. He attended high school at St. John High School in Washington. During his high school career he was active in many different sports. He played baseball, basketball, football, tennis, golf and hockey. He was All-State in football, baseball, and basketball in Washington. Gordon continued playing baseball and softball into his 50’s. Gordon attended North Dakota State Teacher’s College. In 1949, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B. S. in Business. He was an avid OU fan all his adult life.
He married Cartha Wilson on May 12, 1946. They were blessed with two sons, Terry and Kelly.
Gordon was employed as an accountant by OG&E, and Pan-American Oil Corp in the New York office where he traveled to South America performing auditing services. He retired from Kerr-McGee Corp. in 1990 after 29 years of service.
Gordon was the recipient of several awards including Certified Internal Auditor from The Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc. in 1973 and award for years of continuous service to neighbors of Fenwick Garden Village, Edmond, Ok – 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Cartha, sons Terry Clark of Dallas, TX; and Kelly Clark, Oklahoma City; a sister, Beverly Lockhart, Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Kim Johnston, Newcastle, Ok; Stacey Trivitt, OKC; Amber DeGiusti, Tuttle, Ok; and Leah Carleton, Laramie, WY. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Savanna, Cole, Kade & Dylan Johnston, Newcastle, OK; Mariah & Austin Meyer, Tuttle, OK; and Cade & Cort Carleton, Laramie, WY. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Clark.
Gordon was a lifelong Christian, was honest, dependable and helpful to others and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services are 10:00am, Wed., December 15th at Village Baptist Church with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.
