She is survived by her middle son, James Salvia (wife Shelly, grandchildren Lesley and Frank, Meredith and John, great grandchildren Sawyer, Barrett, Jack and Owen) of Oklahoma City, and youngest son, Edward Salvia (wife Alina, grandchildren Nicholas and Stacey). Grace grew up in Brooklyn with her parents, sister Delia, and brother Joe. Grace attended Cathedral High School in Manhattan where she learned her passion for Arts and Design and eventually landed a job with Singer Sewing company designing patterns for women's dresses.
As she was growing up her childhood friend Ann Salvia lived just four blocks from her and she became interested in Ann's brother, Edward. World War II came, and Edward had to go to France, but Grace’s father told her if he arrives back in one piece they could marry. Thankfully he did and upon his return, they were married and had 3 boys: Thomas, James, and Edward. They lived in Brooklyn as Edward made a career with the New York Shipping Association I.L.A. Local 1. After Edward’s retirement and death in 1993, Grace moved to Oklahoma City where her two eldest sons lived. She never lost her New York accent or attitude and loved to tell tales of her life in New York. Grace was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary every day.
Next to her Lord, family was the most important thing to her - she loved to cook and entertain, having the family over for dinner in Brooklyn every Sunday for traditional Italian meals, also carrying on this tradition in Oklahoma. Grace lived a long, full life. We will miss her at our dinner table, but we know she is overjoyed to join her beloved Edward and her eldest son Thomas’ table in heaven.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, January 8th from 1-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial at Christ The King Catholic Church will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 10am with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, all in Oklahoma City.
Grace’s funeral service can be livestreamed at https://ckokc.org/live-streaming.
