

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Eva High Bowman was born July 25, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord June 21, 2012. She is survived by Robert L. “Bob” her husband of 63 years, her three children, Robi, John and Brooks, three grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob and Bianca, her sister Marilyn Vaughn and her daughter-in-law, Leigh Taylor Bowman.
Jackie was brought up in Oklahoma City where she was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She graduated from Oklahoma City’s Classen High School in 1948. She remained with St. Luke’s until her marriage to Bob on June 2, 1949 at Crown Heights Christian Church. She became very active in various activities of the church and was sent to the University of Indiana to study committee work as Adult Education in the Church. Jackie thoroughly learned to love God and her neighbors. She was an active member of Junior Hospitality and spent her time with that organization, the church and raising her daughter Robi who required Special Education Classes.
After moving to Houston, she was busy with her church and became President of the local Association for Special Education Students. John was born in 1964.
Her family moved to New Jersey in 1968 and Jackie became involved in various local residence associations, bridge, and other similar organizations. Brooks was born in 1970. The family returned to Houston in 1973.
Jackie was known for her service to and for others. She founded and served as President of the Cypress Fairbanks Volunteer Fire Department, established her own Secretarial Service Company, became President of the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce and later the Houston West Chamber of Commerce. She was also civic and politically involved throughout her lifetime. Following retirement, they moved to Lake Tenkiller in Eastern Oklahoma in 1996.
The Gore United Methodist Church became home to Jackie until the move to Epworth Villa, a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Oklahoma City. In 2005, she became President of the Residents Association. In 2008, she won Epworth Villa’s Resident Award for the BEST SMILE.
Her final year was spent in the Health Care Section of Epworth. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Epworth Villa Benevolent Fund, 14901 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
Memorial Services will be held at Epworth Villa, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.
