Though James (Jim to his friends) was a man of few words, his intentions always shone through in his actions and in his unfailing presence and stability in the lives of those he cared for. When it came to his children he was selfless, and the solid foundation he built for them served as a launching pad for them to follow their own loves, passions, and dreams to success. He was rightly proud of the hard work he invested in each of them. He had everything to give if they were on the right path, and through his actions, his children learned and developed a strong work ethic, loyalty, accountability, generosity, patience, and presence to their own children, whom he adored as well. Jim found a passion for exotic travel and culture later in his life. He was an avid reader, a thinker, and lifelong learner, passionately curious about the topics he found interest in. He also had quick wit and a unique sense of humor.
A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Jim will be greatly missed by his former wife and the mother of his children, Rose Braun of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Doris "Dot" Oberle of Cape Girardeau, MO; daughter Barb Reynolds and husband Brian of Wylie, TX; daughter Christa Braun; son Matt Braun and wife Jo of Sacramento, CA; daughter Laura Braun and fiancé Milo Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK; and his grandchildren, Piper and Paige Reynolds; Zachary Hamdy; Hannah, Noah, Ian, Ella, Sofia, and Declan Braun; Zoe Slack, Isabel Braun, and Ben Ling; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Agnes Braun; brother, Glennon Braun; sister, Janet Ringwald; sister, Barbara West, brothers-in-law, Leroy “Rip” Oberle John Ringwald, and Robert West; sister-in-law, Pauline “Tudy” Braun, and nephews, Daniel Ringwald and Terry Oberle.
