Jim was born on August 26, 1940, in Norman, Oklahoma, where he was raised and developed friendships that would last a lifetime. He graduated from Norman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, where he studied accounting. A proud Sooner through and through, Jim's love for OU never faded.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a career as an accountant. Throughout his career, the position he treasured most was serving as Business Administrator at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. As a devoted member of St. Luke's for 54 years, his work there was more than a job; it was an opportunity to serve the church and the people he loved. Jim was also the unofficial tax accountant for just about everyone he knew, always willing to lend a hand.
Jim shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Candy. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. Above all else, Jim loved his family. He was a devoted husband and father, but being a grandfather brought him a special kind of joy. He absolutely lived for his grandchildren. He took tremendous pride in each of them, loved being part of their lives, and treasured every opportunity to spend time together. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family.
Jim also had a special place in his heart for all of God's creatures. Over the years, the Mosley household was home to just about every animal one could legally keep within city limits. His love for animals never faded, and his dogs brought him immeasurable joy and companionship each day. They remained faithfully by his side until he took his very last breath.
Jim had a remarkable gift for making people laugh. Known for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and seemingly endless collection of jokes, he had an uncanny ability to deliver the perfect punchline. His famous “Little Johnny” jokes were among his favorites, and those who knew him could always count on a good story and a hearty laugh.
Jim enjoyed fishing, playing golf, collecting coins, and cheering on his beloved Oklahoma Sooners, especially during football and women's basketball seasons. He looked forward to his weekly breakfasts with the “Geezers” and treasured the lifelong friendships he shared with those he grew up with and those he came to know through Sunday School and church.
More than anything, Jim will be remembered for his kindness, his faith, and his generous heart. He was kind to everyone he met and had a special way of making people feel welcome and valued. His faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, and he sincerely tried to live each day in a way that honored God.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Candy Mosley; his daughters, Courtney Elias and her husband, Steve, and Erin Strickland and her husband, Landry; and his five grandchildren, Garrett Elias and his wife, Breanna, Collin Elias and his wife, Rachel, Riley Stinson, Reese Stinson-Strickland, and Savannah Kate Strickland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cleo Mosley; his brother, Phil Mosley; and his sister, Linda Krivanek.
Jim lived a life rich in the things that matter most: faith, family, kindness, and laughter. His legacy lives on in the family he adored, the love he shared, and the countless smiles he brought to others.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
