

James A. Porter went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2011, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on a farm in Roger Mills County, OK, to Emma and Charles Porter on March 21, 1918. After graduation from Hammon High School, he joined the Army Air Corp during WWII and worked as an airplane radio technician. He married Nora D. Porter on April 4, 1943 in Hammon, OK. Following the war, he relocated to Chicago, IL, and was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a signal maintainer for 40 years. He subsequently relocated to Lansing, IL, where he raised his family. He returned to Oklahoma City, OK, June, 1990, where he has resided until his death.
He is predeceased by his wife of 44 years, a granddaughter, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He is survived by his son, James A. Porter, Jr., & wife Monna of Oklahoma City; daughter, Janet A. Newman & husband Wm. A. Newman of Spring, TX; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park, Friday from 2pm-8pm. Funeral services will be 10am, Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel with interment at 2pm at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, OK.
