Janice Jo Smith Farrand passed from this life at 2:30p.m. on Friday, July 26th, after multiple medical complications. “Jan” was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Jack Smith and Maude Smith (her Grandma Great), and her Daddy, Jim B. Smith of El Reno. Jan’s mother was June Elizabeth Smith-Parmenter. Jan was also preceded by her sweet husband, “Dolph” Farrand, to whom she was married on June 1, 1946.
Jan served as customer service personnel at the old Citizens’ National Bank in OKC, and worked for a time in the Oklahoma State Senate. She was an artist early-on and a skilled painter. In the 1950’s she drew a series of fashion plates that were beautifully professional, but being a 50’s mom too the place of her art career. She loved Holidays and always decorated to the nines for each special day. She was upbeat and always loved a party. She had many lifelong friends and never met a stranger. Her every experience was the best, most “fan-dam-tastic” one she had ever had! Jan was proud of her Chickasaw heritage and spoke of it often.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Stevie, and two sons, Kent and Dave Farrand, five grandchildren, Nick, Jill, Stephen, Jesse and Mishael Farrand, and two great-granddaughters, Kendall Leigh and McKenzie Farrand.
Family and close friends will celebrate her passing at a graveside service at Rose Hill Burial Park.
