Myrna “Jean” Kelly began her journey on this earth at Medicine Park, Oklahoma on September 2, 1935 to Orion and Marguerite (Isbell) Smith. Jean grew up on a cotton farm near Sterling, Oklahoma but soon settled in the Bethany area where she met her future husband, Olin Kelly, a Putnam City boy who delivered milk to their residence from his dad’s dairy farm. They began their married life on September 18, 1953 and soon, Cindy, Pat and Mike joined them.
Jean was the matriarch of the Olin Kelly klan. from planning large family dinners and celebrations to extensive travel planning, she had it all organized.
Lake Tenkiller was destined to be Jean and Olin’s residence after hanging out there with friends at first but then with the kids nearly every summer weekend. They moved there in 1978 and built their custom home where Jean worked administration in the local school systems until Olin retired. Then the real travel began.
Asia, Europe, Africa, South America and even Alaska may have been on their itinerary for the winter months but summers were spent on the lake with family. Jean loved “Baby-O-Baby” the big houseboat anchored in the cove with family boats tied up or anchored all around. She loved her home and her flowers on the Lake.
May 31, 2026, Grammy (her new name after her first grandchild was born in 1980) departed for a new trip on her own to her heavenly destination. Being the ultimate planner she is, we’re pretty sure when we get to heaven our itineraries will be waiting for us.
She is survived by Olin Kelly, her loving husband of 72 years, adult children Cindy Huffines, Patrick Kelly (Jerri), Mike Kelly (Rhonda), seven grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and one sister Wanda Lively (Wayne).
