Jerry Leroy Erickson

Jerry Leroy Erickson, of Edmond, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 91. Jerry was born and raised in Glendale, California on April 24, 1935. He graduated from Glendale High School and went on to complete an apprenticeship in the skilled trades of carpentry and woodworking. His natural talent and passion for creating with his hands made him a true artist. From beautiful, intricate cabinetry to complete home construction, Jerry took great pride in his work and had the ability to turn wood and materials into something lasting and meaningful.

He served his country proudly and during his time in the United States Army, Jerry was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While home on leave, he met Carol, the love of his life. That meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful love story and a life they would build together.

Beyond his craftsmanship, Jerry enjoyed many things throughout his life, including fishing and athletics. One of his greatest joys was coaching. What began as a parent assisting with coaching his eldest son in the Tri-City Peanut League grew into a lifelong love of working with young athletes. Jerry especially enjoyed coaching youth football, where he had the opportunity to encourage, teach, and positively influence generations of children. His patience, respect, and genuine care for others made him a coach who was not only respected, but deeply liked by those who knew him.

Above all, Jerry was a Godly man whose faith and love for others were evident throughout his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, treasured great-grandfather, and friend.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Lois Erickson; his father, Enoch Erickson; and his sister, Jean Harper.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Erickson, the love of his life and his wife of more than 70 years; his children, Sherry Hobgood and husband Jeff, Robert Erickson, and Randy Erickson and wife Sheri; brother-in-law, Joe Harper; granddaughters, Kasey Mercer, Alexandria Kurtz, Brittany Windorf, Paige Erickson, and Maddy Erickson; grandsons, Jake Hobgood, Zak Hobgood, Kenny Hobgood, and Nic Erickson; and 16 beautiful great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 12-4pm Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Memorial Park Funeral Home 13313 N Kelley Ave, OKC, OK, 73131. Services will be 2:00pm, Monday, September 14, 2026 at Crossings Chapel (14600 Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134) with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in OKC.
