

Jimmie "Yvonne" Duncan, 77, died June 27, 2016 from traumatic brain injuries sustained in a fall on June 18, 2016. She was born, the second of three daughters, to Ethel Pybas and J.B. Pybas in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Yvonne grew up in Pauls Valley, attended Pauls Valley schools, and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1960 with a degree in Music.
Yvonne married Dean Duncan in 1960 and together they had three children, Pam, Paula, and Ronnie. She taught music for 10 years at several different school systems and then begin her civil service career with the Veteran's Administration. She went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in 1979, and retired in 2001 as an Academy Instructor. Yvonne taught various courses in the FAA Academy, including "Basic Instructor Training." She was instrumental in teaching emergency security training procedures to government and contractor personnel, for the newly created Homeland Security Department personnel immediately after the September 11, 2001 bombings. Yvonne had her private Pilot’s license and enjoyed flying different aircraft. She was an avid OSU Cowboys fan, and enjoyed attending games with her family, going to the lake, and playing with her grandkids. She loved THUNDER basketball, football, running around with her daughter Paula & friends, and watching son Ronnie play music. She made no secret of her politics - the things she believed in, she believed in strongly. She was vibrant, engaging, patriotic and compassionate. She will be remembered for her fashion flair, her vivacious sense of humor, and her love of life. Yvonne always looked and acted much younger than her years. She was a beautiful woman of vivacious spirit and was described by everyone as 77 going on 22.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, JB & Ethel Pybas and one grandchild, Kyle Duncan. Yvonne is survived by her sisters, Mona Long, Oklahoma City, OK; and Louann Pokorny , Tulsa, OK. Also her children, Pam Pyle; Paula Duncan; Ronnie Duncan; and 5 grandchildren, Matt Nichols, James Duncan, Shelby Pyle, Evan Duncan, and Aaron Duncan, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
