Jimmy was born in Marlow, OK to parents Van Junior and Stella Marie. During this time his dad was serving in Germany in WWII – Battle of the Bulge. He was 19 months old before his dad would return from war.
He attended Olustee OK High School and would graduate in 1964. Following this he had a stent in the military as a U.S. Army Medic, serving in Germany from 1966 to 1968. Upon returning home, he would go on to marry his high school sweetheart, Pamela Anne Scruggs. The two where happily married on December 7, 1968 in Altus, OK, and they would go on to share 55 loving years together. Jimmy would also go on to further his education at Oklahoma State University where he would receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation in 1972.
Jimmy made a career in sales, and he was quite good at it. He was always the #1 sales person wherever he worked. He served the medical and pharmaceutical industry, the oil field, as well as auto sales. He also had a love for sports. He was a coach at Oklahoma Christian School with his best friend of 45 years, George Wagner. He enjoyed golf, baseball, football, and all sports his grandkids were participating in—especially girls’ volleyball (high school and college). Most of all he loved Oklahoma State University (go Pokes!)
Jimmy was also very patriotic, he loved and served his country. He was passionate about Jesus his Lord and Savior, and his family and friends. His gift was one of hospitality, he loved serving others. He was loyal, generous, and remembered most by people for how he made them feel. “People may not remember what you did—but they always remember how you made them feel.” That summarizes Jimmy Lee Blundell. He made everyone feel loved and special.
