John grew up in McAlester, OK and excelled in hunting and sports. He lettered in Track (pole volt) and Football (Honorable Mention All-State). John became a Paratrooper and played College Football at Eastern Oklahoma A&M. Married his love Evelyn Rhodes in 1952 and had three sons, Dave, Steve, and John M.
His sons and their wives reside in the OKC metro area. John has 5 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was a very successful Sales Rep for Perfection Truck Equipment Co. for 37 years.
John accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 12 at North McAlester Baptist Church. He was a member and Deacon of Quail Springs Baptist Church for 63 years.
