LaVerne McCan Patterson

LaVerne (McCan) Patterson passed to eternal life at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012. Mrs. Patterson was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on August 7, 1925. LaVerne married Joe Patterson on July 14, 1945. She is survived by her husband Joe; two children; son, Mike Patterson and his wife Joy of Edmond, OK, and daughter, Janet Barnes and her husband Charles of Plano, TX; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and younger sister Colleen Smith of Lakewood, CO. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

One of her greatest joys was the biannual McCan Clan Thanksgiving reunion when she was able to see and meet with her extended family.

Mrs. Patterson began teaching special education in the Oklahoma City School District in 1973, retiring in 1991. Her entire life was dedicated to loving and serving her family and community.

Viewing will be at Memorial Park, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family to receive visitors between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Services for Mrs. Patterson will be at The Village United Methodist Church, 2501 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, OK, 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
