Lloyd Lee Reed was born near Miller, Oklahoma, on July 13, 1933. He attended school at Moyers, Oklahoma; Richmond, California; and Alice, Texas, where he graduated in 1950. He then graduated from Texas A&M/Kingsville in 1955 with a degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. He served two years in the US Navy at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He worked for Pure Oil and Union Oil of California for 38 years before retiring in Edmond. For many years he and his brother, Fred, travelled to many countries, first for work and then as tourists.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice, in 1970, and his second wife, Lynda, in 1995, both whom he lovingly cared for in their illness. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle, and her husband, Tony Mitchell, of Edmond; four grandchildren, Reed, Jazlynn, Anna, and Braylon; and his brother, Fred, of Edmond.
Lloyd’s grandchildren have requested donations, either monetary or nonperishable food items, be made to the Student Food Pantries at Edmond Memorial High School and Cimarron Middle School, Edmond, Oklahoma.
