Lois Elizabeth Toldan, 100, of Oklahoma City passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010. She was born on July 25, 1909, in Madill, Oklahoma, to Augusta and Hattie Faulkner. She had two brothers, Earl and Woodrow, and three sisters, Ellen Brand, Ethel Cate and Ruby Faulkner. Her parents and siblings all preceded her in death.
Lois moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1928 to live with one of her sisters. She soon met a handsome young man, Raymond Toldan, and they were married on January 26, 1929. Together they had a precious son, Raymond Toldan Jr. Both her husband and son preceded her in death, as well as her daughter-in-law, Doris Toldan.
Grandson Brian Toldan and his wife Betty of Houston and granddaughter Janice Guymer and her husband Geoff of Edmond survive her. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Blane, Bayley, and Brett Toldan, also of Houston.
Lois worked as a saleslady for Kerr’s department store for 25 years. From there she went to Rothchild’s department store at Penn Square, where she worked until her retirement at the age of 70. She loved her work and had loyal customers.
The most important thing in her life was her faith, which gave her strength for each day. She was very devoted to her church, worshiping at Quail Springs Church of Christ for many years. Her hobbies were travel, long early morning walks, gardening and entertaining friends and family in her home. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed that sport until her early 90’s.
Lois was very close to four nieces, Anita Worden, Helen James, Marilynn McAfee and Kay Smith, and their families. She very much enjoyed spending some wonderful times with all of them.
Lois always said that God blessed her with a long life, a loving, Christian family and a number of very dear friends. We were all equally blessed by her presence in our lives.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Christian University; In Search of the Lord’s Way (P.O. Box 371, Edmond OK 73083); and/or Tipton Children’s Home (P.O. Box 370, Tipton OK 73570).
